Going Green!

We are thrilled to announce that we are "giving back" to our community by Going Green with solar!  Thanks in part to federal and local assistance, we anticipate that by October 2016 we will be drawing ALL of our power needs from a new solar array erected just west and south of our office. We will thus lessen the load on our local utility and, in fact, be providing additional renewable-sourced power to the local grid!

We are hoping that at some point in the future we will be able to upgrade to a system that will provide office power during those periods of grid outage that we experience from time to time in the winter.

We'll post pictures as the project progresses.  Our installer is Fire Mountain Solar LLC of Mt. Vernon, WA.  Thanks to Tim Nelson and his crew for an excellent job in making this happen.

Update!  The project was completed on time and on budget.  The 32-panel array with 16 Blue Frog microinverters produces 9.28KW of energy at full output, which greatly exceeds our peak power need for the business.  The surplus is used to daily supply the utility grid and will hopefully be a little help in delaying future costly construction of conventional power generation facilities. The array output is maximized by the unique feature of the "Montana" rack mounting system which allows the entire grid to be dynamically tilted for optimal solar efficiency as the sun's angle changes during the year.  We are thrilled to see the system in action each day!
